right on. i don't understand why people think the solution to the problem of not looking is for someone else to do the watching out for their behinds and put the toilet seat down versus them watching out for their own behinds and looking befor sitting. Take personal responsibility for goodness sake

I just recently heard a man saying "maybe the seat was made to be up" instead of down all the time, that is a point I never looked at being a woman..lol..
I always look before I sit, I live with my fiance who lived alone for a while so he forgets once in a great while and ewwww...
sitting on the porcelain pretty much sucks.

You're asking women take take responsibility for themselves. That is a big no no in a feminist forum. Never mind that their insistence someone be responsible for them avoiding doing something as plain stupid as "falling into the toilet" puts them a peg above children.
Hell if I knew some self-important beeotch like some of the answerers here would fall into the toilet if I left the seat up I'd make sure it was randomly left up all the time just for the amusement.

If I go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, I do not turn the lights on, so I would not be able to look. My husband always puts the seat down so this is not an issue for me, thankfully.

I do at public restrooms, and even during the day when I'm at home. But until I've had a pot of coffee, than I can't be considered human, much less have my eyes open, so in the middle of the night or first thing in the morning...not so much. I share a house with two men, and none of us are morning people...so the boys share one bathroom and I have my own. Problem solved.

Most of the time I look, but sometimes when I come home and really gotta go, I have no time to waste on looking around and investigating the seat position.

No, but I should. There is nothing worse than sitting on a public toilet seat and getting a wet bum. I get the heaves just thinking about it...
Haha, I misunderstood your question.

I usually do look because we usually keep the seat down so the dogs won't drink out of the toilet bowl!

Yeah, I live with people that don't flush the toilet and don't clean the pee of the toilet seat.

I've been married 14 years, and I've never known my husband to leave the seat up.
