I am not Mexican, and don't look like one. I have learned to say I am, because it's just a name. So my question is, why can't we just live without a color code name and without a voice label, what is the big issue to that? As if it is a crime to be breathing here on this earth and have a label on ourselves. For all us grown up's, if we want a better world, let's all educate ourselves before we bring chidren into this world, and create a bad system for them. After all, children learn what they see and hear at home. I see ourselves in our children, because many have a failure system set up for tomorrows generation. If I am wrong, I am sorry. It's everywhere we see the wrong doing of generation's passed on from ignorance. Break out of the old into the new, and let's just become better citizens, and stop acting superior when your just another number.

The result in our system unfolds when our children are in trouble for what has been passed on to them, because they look up to us.

Please no rude comments, no need for that. I am a very powerful voice in the city I live in, with certificates of recognition...

Oh wow, fallen system. I didnt say I was better, oh how quick are we to judge. I could care less. I think it is rude to assume what you don't have fact's on and rude. Children are growing up with hate because of color codes and beaten for speaking a different language.

Sorry, but that's the world that we live in today. Most people look at Hispanics and think that it is a race, when it is a culture. It has different cultures , races, and skin colors. All Hispanics are not Mexican, and all Mexicans do not speak spanish either. They may speak Mayan or the Cherokee langusge .They could be Mayan,Cherokee, White, Mulatto Mestizo, or what some refer to as Afro-Mexican also. It's the same with the rest of the Hispanic comunity. People who lived by stereotypes and are misinformed tend to put everyone in a box, but if I were you I would not get upset about it. You are You. I am African American and a lot of people ask me if I am Hispanic, I simply say no and go on about my business. We are all the same we just need to take the time to get to know one another better.

It is ignorance. However you are contributing to it by adjusting to saying you are Mexican. Besides, what does a Mexican look like? you have fallen into the same stereotyping cycle. I agree with you in that our children are a mirror of ourselves and as such we must teach them well. I am not just another number nor should anyone else, if you think you are better you can lead the change.

1. From the time immigration to the US began, foreigners were looked-down upon, beaten, excluded, etc. People in cities would live in separate, identifiable neighborhoods, and God-forbid if they wandered into a different language neighborhood.

2. Unrelated: it's amazing the number of people who think that Canada is one of the United States.

I think its because there are a lot of Mexicans in the United States, and we are not used to seeing others that speak spanish who are not mexican- its really not a racist thing though, it sort of ignorance in a way that we just dont know.

I don't just assume that every Spanish-speaking person is Mexican just like I don't just assume that every Asian person is Chinese. My mom has always had friends of all races and my best friend is Chinese/Laos so not everyone thinks that way. Some of us are intelligent enough to know the difference =)

It depends where you live. If you live in california, people think you're mexican, because the majority of latinos live in california are mexican, but if you live in florida, people would think your Cuban because the majority lives in florida are cuban prisoners, i mean, cuban decent
