I am a Ford parts salesman so here is the info you are looking for. It controls the vaccum to the egr valve to open and close. The egr uses recirculated air so the car will have less emissions out of the tail pipe. There are 2 different solenoids for that car. One is located on the air cleaner box and it is a 2 port soelnoid part # F32Z-9D474-D. The other is located on the intake manifold and is a 3 port solenoid, part # F32Z-9D474-B. Both parts are obsolete from Ford. Here is my email address and I can provide you with info on where to get one. davidstapp1@yahoo.com

EGR stands for "exhaust gas recirculator" and simply means that the initial exhaust is sent back through the system to be burned again, therefore sending out less emissions through the tail pipe. I don't believe it is too costly but if it is the only problem with the car, you are pretty lucky. Good luck

exhaust gas recirculation valve--

returns un-burned gases to intake.

New one probably $100
