In 50 years we'll be at 10 billion souls at our current rate of growth, there'll be zero fossil fuels, zero coal and other natural resources. The bulging populations will mostly be in third world countries. Wars will be fought over water.
Will technology save the day?.....maybe. Will we change our ways and live more green?.....doubtful. Will there be some cataclysmic event that will bring us down to more sustainable levels....say 3 billion?.....probably.

"The end of the world" has been prophesied for at least a few thousand years now and so far every prediction date has come and gone without incident. To name a few of those, we have Hally's Comet, a once in 75 year favorite, May 5th, 2000, a planetary alignment that was supposed to rip the very Solar System asunder, the little incident when the Hale-Bopp comet hit Jupiter was most likely going to ignite the planet's atmosphere and destroy the Earth in the process, and of course my all time favorite, the infamous Y2K. Human beings need to scare themselves for no good reason every so often. It gives the Doom-and-Gloom nut cases something to do. As far as living it up goes, I guess it depends on how long you figure you have left. If you want to go celebrate the end of the world hard enough for several days straight, your world may well come to an end if you party hard enough. As for me, I'm going to probably sleep through it like I did on the last three occasions, and wake up in the morning and go to work like nothing happened....again.

If you've read anything about one of the most popular psychics in the States: the late Edgar Cayce, he gave psychic ''readings'' about the upcoming earth changes [that will be very similar to the sinking of Atlantis and other lands that had occurred just prior to rise of the Egyptian Civilization.] Gordon Michael Scallion is another psychic in the States who is a present day predictor of the upcoming earth changes...he had correctly predicted several earthquakes and volcanoes and so on, that actually came about.
I have decided to live it up [until I know for sure] because, what's the sense in worrying, when it might not happen for another week. lol

No. Life here is too short to waste it. When we go to the next stop it will be for eternity. I'd rather be in a great place for eternity than in a bad place. And what I do here will determine that. Someone once said that if every year a bird took a grain of sand from the Sahara desert and took it some where else, whe he finished emptying it from all the sand, remember, one grain a year, eternity would be merely starting. So, live it up here or in the next? I'll take the next.

You're on a train. You look up ahead about 3 miles and you see that the tracks run onto a bridge that has collapsed. The train is moving about 5 mph (three miles will take about 40 minutes). Do you 'live it up'? Or do you warn others and get the hell off the train - or try to stop the train?

You should be living it up whether you're thinking about the end of the World or just your own, very short, mortality.
