I'm 27 weeks and 6 days. I get at least one bad sinus infection a year, sometimes two, spring and fall. I'm in the first bad day of one now. Today when I woke up, my glands were a little swollen, my ears are tender, etc. Is there anything I can take for it? Is it better to call the doc and try to go straight to a prescription or will he tell me to get something at the store?

I've gotten to the yellow and green. I tried to include that in the, etc. since I know that is not exactly a nice thing to read about.

You poor thing!!! I know what you are going through!! With my last pregnancy and just recently with this one I had a sinus infection. My doctor said not to take the sinus meds because in pregnancy there is a chance that you could cause pre-mature labor...I bought a saline nose spray (it's ewww when it runs down the back of your throat, but you learn to deal with it) and blow the crap(literally, lol) outta your nose. Also, I found that rapid release tylenol helped me A LOT more than just regular tylenol. Gave me that boost of tylenol to kill most of the headache associated with the infection while regular tylenol didn't do a thing for me. Drink plenty of water...yah yah yah... LOL And an extra dose ot Vitamin C doesn't hurt either!

1. Saline nose Spray
2. Rapid release Tylenol (or just the wal-mart brand)
3. Plenty of water
4. Extra vitamin C

=) I hope you feel better sweetie!!!!!

If you haven't gotten to the infected part of it yet there is plenty you can do and take to prevent it from going full blown and needing antibiotics.
Take some psudofed and also get some guiffesen(musinex is the brand name) both of these are safe during pregnancy. Also get a humidifier going or run the hot water in the bathroom with the door shut and breath the steam. If you start getting the yellow/green gunk then it's time to go in for antibiotics. It's kind of hard to say how your doctor will handle this. Alot of them will tell you to home treat until you get a full out sinus infection. Others will be pro-active especially if you have a history of getting them and prescribe antibiotics to prevent a serious infection. Only way to find out which way your doctor leans is to call him.

Just get some regular saline solution and flush both nostrils out three times a day. It will get rid of it faster than any medication can.

Blow you nose, flush them out until it runs down your throat a little, and blow again. I promise it'll be over in a couple days.

Antihistamines and other cold and sinus medication are HORRIBLE for the unborn. Theyre still in use, but a fair amount of babies are defected by them. I wouldnt risk it. Besides, saline solution works better than they ever would.

Been there done that.
