PS it was "comfortably numb" by Pink Floyd. I wonder if that has any significance?

2 points for me! Driving drunk kills! Good driver or not that could have been your neighbor's child instead of the cat! UGH

Lost your job and your wife cheated , you say?
I'm very sorry for your loss. You seem to have a lot of pain to work through. Please try to seek counseling from an older trusted friend, or pastor. Sometimes life can seem very unfair when many bad things happen all at the same time.
Drunk driving and killing innocent animals is of no credit or help to your situation.
Please don't do foolish things like those again.
It won't make you feel any better. You can be very, very thankful that things didn't end up much, much worse.
Apologize, and tell the truth to the kid and his parents.
Face up to and take responsibility for what you did.
Few people would take the honorable way out of a
situation like this. But you'd really be better off if you did.

Own up to your mistakes. Go to your neighbor and tell them you made a terrible mistake and as a result you caused the death of their cat. Offer to pay for them to adopt a new one. Then grow up and realize that this is what getting drunk is really all about; pain and suffering. If you do this on a regular basis, get yourself some help. You're just lucky you DIDN'T hit the kid, otherwise you'd be staring at the world from behind steel bars. Think about that for a while. You would still be alive and someone's child would be dead, because you chose to get drunk and drive carelessly (not to mention illegally). You would have to live with that for the rest of your life; is this what you want out of life?

hmmmmmm
Another attention seeker i see we got here. i saw 1 of your answers and saw what you put re some-ones Aunt dying of cancer. Not ncie reply, like you not a nice person end of.
So you going to get your just deserts.
Just saying for 1 min, you were drunk, how would you really feel if you ploughed into a car with children in the back, the youngest being a baby, they all killed. How would you really feel then.!!
You are just an attention seeker and think yourslef very big, in bragging about on what you may and may have not done.
Get a life and stop wasting peoples time and upsetting them.

You need to get REAL!!! REAL HELP driving drunk is just plain stupid, you are lucky it was the cat and NOT the child. You OWE it to them to tell them the truth. You OWE it to YOURSELF to get some help. Drinking and driving is just plain stupid sorry but how would you feel if you killed someone? Maybe this was your wake up call. Listen to Carrie Underwood's song Wasted you really don't want to live your life that way do you? I mean there is so much life to live and so many people die every day who REALLY have something to give and want to live and you want to drink a drive??? Sorry be responsible, if you are going to drink and I don't think you should get a taxi!

if you have a conscience which i don't think you have,i would of told the neighbor in the first place how would you of felt if your beloved cat was hit by a car and you thought she had possibly run away, think of the anguish the owners are going through, wondering where the cat is ,
tell the truth
never drink and drive it ruins thousands of families lives a year by hit and run drivers

Man, you need to tell them, and then THANK GOD it was the cat and not their kid! I hope you've learned your lesson. It's so selfish to drive drunk, especially if you've "Almost" hit a kid and still continue to do so.

you should tell your neighbors the truth about the cat but leave out that you were drunk! and sorry about your wife and about you loosing your job.

also don't tell them about almost hitting the kid that might make them kinda mad

Grow up and don't DRINK and DRIVE!!!
You owe your neighbors the truth and if you almost hit their kid I'm sure the kid told them by now.

Yes you should tell them what you did. Be polite and apologize. I'm sure they want to know what happened to their poor kitty. You owe them at least that.
