My Cavalier needs a new fuel filter and I just want to know if I can replace it myself easily. Any advice would be of help. Thanks.

It is possible to do. You are unsure, so take to someone who is for sure. It is not some thing you can do.

It's not that hard, but there is pressurized gasoline involved here. These only require the rear end lifted up, a 5/8 and 13/16 wrench, and a pair of needle nose pliers. What usually gets people is the dirt that sticks the plastic hose to the plastic retainer that you have to pinch to get the one side off. Before you attempt to get it off, knock it around a little to get the dirt to come out. If you wreck the plastic pipe, it's a thousand dollar part.

It depends on you mechanical abilities.
The line will be under about 35lbs of pressure, so you will get a face full of gas if you are not careful.
Also, you will need a special tool to remove the filter.
In most cases, it would be easier to just take it to some one, unless you are planning on, and have a place to perform all you maintenance.

yes you can but you need a quick disconnect tool and just get a cresent wrench to prevent having to buy i whole wrench set. be sure to take off the gas cap that will help with the gas spraying all in your face but yea you can get the special tool from orielys or pepboys trust me im a tech here in san antonio

if you never replaced one before take it to jiffy lube becouse most filters on the newer vehicles are under pressure and if you don't know how to release it you won't get it off. also get them to show you how its done

bring in those cars have a clip that is kinda hard to get off plus its under car
they are easier to do on a hoist

You can do it its easy. Unclip and plug it in clip it up.
