Okay so my "baby" is 3 years old, but she has strep. I don't feel that great today either but it is just a headache and a swollen gland on one side of my neck. I don't think those are signs of strep. Should I call my doctor and tell them I have been exposed or will they even do anything since I am not really having symptoms of it. Also, if I do get step, can I take anything for it? And, can it hurt the baby?

Please don't get your healthcare instruction from us clowns on Yahoo...

Call your doctor and speak to a professional.

Personally, I would have called the doctor when I woke up with a "Swollen Gland" on the side of my neck...

That may not be a direct symptom of strep throat...but inflammed lymph nodes are a sign that your body is infected with something and trying to fight it off

Call your doctor.

If you get it you take tylenol for fever, and if it is full blown strep they give you an antibiotic. All the 'cillins are safe when pregnant.

A swollen gland and feel yucky isnt cause for concern, they would tell you to get plenty of rest, drink and eat well, and come back in if you have spots on your throat, or a rash and fever.

Call the doctor, get your 3 y/o treated and find out about the consequences of strep and your pregnancy.

Okay - first of all, YES, contact your doctor and get on antibiotics to eradicate this from your system...
Secondly - here's my experience with it:

Well, I'm actually a carrier of the Strep B infection (found out so pleasantly at my last Dr. appt.) and they told me nothing will happen to me, and I'll be given antibiotics to eradicate it from my system, and to prevent it from infecting my son when I deliver. He also said that the baby is at greatest risk at birth b/c the mucous plug is out, and the water has broken, therefore making him susceptible to the infection during birth, but NOT pregnancy. He gave me no indication that it would be a problem while I'm still carrying (as long as it doesn't infect my tissue, but rather just "lies" within my system for now).

Check with your doctor to confirm - you'll need to get that cleared up anyway - Strep, when it goes untreated, can cause a lot of problems for you.

Good luck!

i think of that the only way it ought to harm your toddler is that if it is going skipped over and by way of that factor you would be so uncomfortable which you does no longer be able to stand it. i do no longer see how a medically taken care of case of Strep could be deadly, so i circulate with maximum individuals, no longer actual!
