I'm 17 and an animal lover, so I give monthly donations to the RSPCA. I think it's such a shame they receive no finacial surport from the goverment. Because I'm only 17, I don't know much about this kind of thing, so sorry if I'm missing something here, but why is that? The goverment seems happy enough to give out thousands of benefits to the scroungers who sit on their arses all day, when they're more than capable of working. So why not spend money on this charity? Is it because it's based about animals, so therefore not seen as important?

Yes seems incredible that they recieve nowt from the government. It's left up to us to help the sick/abused animals with donations. It's normally the layabouts that buy animals and can't or won't look after them that use up the rspca resources.

Rspca Funding

Because the rspca do not deserve government funding. And i am glad they don't....it would be worse than what you say about so-called scroungers on the dole. The rspca are not what they portray themselves to be. I know of an elderly lady who has been careing for sick and disowned animals for the past 30 years. The rspca staged two dawn raids on her home with police co-operation and removed all the animals she had in her care. The lady is in her 70's. The rspca also lie and underhandedly remove and take pets for no solid legitimate reasons...only as it suits them. Hope they never have the opportunity to do it you. Royal Society for the Presention of Cruelty to Animals indeed....more like Really Stupid People Creating Aggrevation. I have withdrawn any and all personal funding to them and will not now or ever assist them in any manner in the future.

I do not want my Gov't to choose 1 charity over another. Many charities help animals. The RSPCA do a great job but so do others.
If you fund 1 charity, you have to fund them all.

I donate to my local animal shelter, they also do a great job for animals in my area. They do not get Gov't funding either. Thats the way it should be.

RSPCA do receive some financial support from the government in way of grants.

All or most large recognised charities do.

Animals are a luxury. The government doesn't give to charities. The RSPCA gets charitable breaks & depends on people who feel the same way. I am allergic or i would have all the animals I can take care of. I donate to any I come across. You really expect too much from this government anyway, they only take care of themselves & their rich buddies!

I think my dog fits into the category of the extract below.

'the scroungers who sit on their arses all day'

I haven't seen many dogs digging up the street or generally doing anything much that most people would consider useful to society (Other than farm dogs of course). There main purpose for us was to assist in hunting - which has now been banned. When dogs start paying NI contributions they can then claim welfare.

Two wrongs don't make a right!

I don't know why either, nor does the RNLI as far as i know, often the services that are the most useful and best are those funded by voluntary contributions, stupid, it should be government run.
