I plan on having more than 1 child. I am very particular about the names I choose for a boy and a girl. I can't have them sound too similar to each other or start with the same letter. I want to just let go and name the baby what I like but I can't seem to do that. Do any of you get so anal about what you name your children?

Heck yeah, I was anal about naming my kids! That's going to be their name forever, and you want it to be "Perfect". You don't want it to be too popular, but not too weird either. I know exactly what you mean!

That's not "very particular", it's just plain common sense :) and hardly a huge restriction!
Just remember that they will have to live with the name you choose their whole life - don't get hung up on the perfect cute baby name, they'll only be a baby for eighteen months or so!

we have nine children and we named them all what we wanted. only twice did we concede once was to name my son James(it's a family name and we didn't have any young men with that name) and the other time was to name our last daughter after my grandmother ( we added Isabella to her name so she has two middle names) just try to make sure it's not something your child will get teased for, other than that go for it.

When one picks a name for a child, that really is the child's handle for the rest of there lives, its a big decision.

yes and you have every right...your name kind of does make you who you are and represents you someway...and mostly it's always going to be your name unless you change it but I really don't think people do that. I think it's good that you're so careful about it -- that way your kids won't get stuck with something stupid like the rest of their generation.
