The best I ever saw was a house with a broken window.
The burglar was lying on the ground, pillowcase in hand...
Inside the house was the OWNER with a shotgun, pointing at the window.
The word "NEXT!" was along the bottom of the sign.

Runner up; "This house is protected by two guard dogs. Neither have arthritus! Do you?"

A SIGN ON A VAN OUTSIDE THE HOUSE SAID "THIS VAN CARRIES NO LESS THAN $20 DOLLARS WORTH OF AMINO AT ANYTIME!"

As a matter of fact, I am doing it now. I was originally using a standard webcam with an older desktop PC that I had and was snapping pics every 2 minutes and holding them on the hard drive. It was a good way to get some extra mileage out of a throw-away PC and an old webcam that only works with older operating system drivers. Then I realized, it's just too many photos to review, so I bought a used trail cam for $50 from the local want ads. The nice thing is, on many of these cameras you can adjust the "range" in which it detects movement. You can also program them to either take one pic or a series of pics...or even video. It also comes with an IR flash that illuminates the area, without people knowing they are being photographed. Trail cams are great for security. Another thing that I do is, when I am home and I see a "strange car" parked in my neighborhood, I use my regular digital camera to snap a few pictures of the car, license plate and so forth. Often times, burglars will first visit an area to see which homes seem the most accessible to them, and then return at a later date to actually rob the places.

Saw one with a picture (silhouette) that said "This is you". Under it was the same silhouette with the markings of a scope over the picture and it said "This is you on my property".
