I like to root for a team that I think did more of a traditional job of getting there.
Building young players, surviving on a low budget.
Exciting players, not just home run guys also do it for me.
Of the teams currently in the playoffs, I will be supporting Cleveland. Really like their young guys like Sizemore, Martinez, Hafner, Peralta, and winning without a big name at every position.

I usually will root from a team for the National League since I'm a Braves fan. However sometimes if a team I dislike are in the World Series I do like you said and root for the team playing them! lol

I would root for the Phillies 2nd. If they didn't make it either I would root for the American League. I also pick a team out of the 2 playing to root for, even if I really don't care at all. Its fun to root for a team that you don't care about because there is no pressure. You can take a bathroom break without caring what you miss!! :)

I usually root for a different team, whomever is playing against the Yankees or Cubs for sure (which in the Cubs case is not that often.) Usually I root for the American League, other than the Yankees, because my team is an American League team. Can you guess which one? Yes I am from Chicago and don't like the Cubs.

I root for the American League unless the Yankees are in the Series. If the Yanks are in then I root for whoever is playing them because the last thing I want to hear is a bunch of front running Yankees fans bragging about how great they are especially when the fans are just a bunch of losers who like to think they are great just because the Yankees are good.

People say root against the yankees, cuz theyve won "too many" championships,i say its cuz they are jealous they dont have that many LOL what would u all say if it was ur team that had 26 WS rings, and the yanks only had a few or none? would u root against ur own team?

I'm a Braves fan but I don't necessarily root for the National League. It depends on who makes it to the series. If the Cubs or Phillies go, I'll probably root for them especially the Cubs, but if it's the Mets I probably won't root for them. I'll root for anybody against the Yankees if they go as they have won enough World Series already.

You root against the Yankees for 1 and for a scrappy team like the Angels. If you're a real baseball fan you'd respect their "small ball" attitude in the America league "play for the 3 run homerun". Pitching / defense / timely hitting wins rings.

I usually try to pick a team who has players native to my home state, Michigan. This makes it hard because Jason Veritek, captain of the Boston Red Stockings, is from my hometown of Rochester Michigan, and Derek Jeter is from Michigan as well. In this case I defer to the "root for whomever is playing AGAINST the Yankees" rule.
Another criteria I use . . . is rooting for the original team vs the expansion team. I have a hard time pulling for the Marlins, Devil Rays, and Diamondbacks of the world !!! Maybe I'm spoiled because Detroit has 4 original teams !!!

If my team is out (which they already are) I usually watch a few games without a rooting interest. If it's another New York series I'm not going to watch at all. The one game I watch last time was suffering enough.
