They are not worthless, they are pretty to look at and help you to think about them and who lives on them (if any) and then you can remember how you felt when you were a child and you looked at them and then you remember lying next to your friend at the age of 10 and that brings back good memories.
But if you are talking about Hollywood stars then they are there because they worked hard or something and they are imprtant because they make us escape from real life drama.
