I'm just wondering if when I connect to wireless Internet, the people running it can see what I am doing on it.

CAN they monitor your keystrokes? Yes. They would have to install a software ( a key logger ) to be able to do it. But it could be done.

ARE they monitoring your keystrokes? Probably not. They would have very little to gain by doing it. If you are on a public network, it is unlikely that you are going to be sending private information. If they get caught doing it (and it is not hard to catch them) they would face fines and prison terms. Not worth the risk.

But if you are concerned, make sure you have an up to date anti-virus/spyware scanner in place to guard against the install of a keyloader. Also a firewall to warn you of any authorized activity. (Before the keylogging does them any go, the program has to send them the information. A firewall would revent that.)

Also be careful not to send any information that you would not and want public.

Of course they can, if they really want to. Its just another form of network connectivity. So, whatever can be done by cable networking can also be done in wireless networking.
Hope it helped.
