Motley Fool recommendations?

Question

Anyone try the Motley Fool's newsletters?
Such as Tom Gardner's Motley Fool Hidden Gems ?
How did it work out?

I don't like it..............
usually in a financial newspaper, there are bundles of newsletters you can get on a trial basis..........then decide which fits you........I did like value line and their special situations letters..didn't like cabot.........dow theory.sometimes good..sometimes not....get a bunch and check em out

Hidden Gems is probably the single best newsletter you can get, and one of the few worthwhile ones. Small caps stocks are where the big money is, but it's a full time job to find and research the good companies. They do that for you, and for a very reasonable price. Plus, they are very smart and experienced investors. I've made some serious money with their picks, Atheros, IIVI, LOOP, CMG, MIDD, and others. But not all their picks work out. You have to use your own judgement. But they're worth every penny. Plus you get access to the Motley fool discussion boards, which, unlike Yahoo!, have informed and intelligent substantive discussions of stocks. The Hidden Gems is probably the best, but if I had a much larger portfolio I would also subscribe to the Stock Advisor and the Global Gains.

Yes, I did that for a while...my experience was 50/50. The problem when I did it was that you still had to decide when to selll...that can be tricky. For ex, I made some money on MIDD two years ago; however, I ended up getting out before it's latest run-up. I really wish that they would actually manage a micro-cap tracking fund so that people can objectivly look at his track record.

Nothing on internet is reliable if it relates money. So do your own homework alongside looking at such recommendations.

Too conservative for speculative advice.

They are great for the 85% stable stock most people should hold.
