Yes, I do. I usually have what I need, but I am sadly lacking in the things I want.

That is easy to know, but difficult to practice. We all need very little to live. And not much more to be happy. But when we go to the store to buy a light bulb, and end up buying a new lamp, that distinction goes right out the window. Temptation is the marketing tool of capitalism. I"m just as guilty. Many times I've come home from the store with bags of stuff I didn't need, and asked myself "why did I buy this?"

hee hee this is indeed a morning filled with topics on my own personal development, there seems to a message for me some were, inevitably I know exactly what I want and the more I strive toward it with out thinking the further it from me it gets. I certainly try to meet the needs that I percieve to be important for the life I have, often I find that through god what I need he gives only its not the path I would have chosen it is usualy a more fruitful journey.

Easily. The only needs in this world are those that are solely for one's own survival. This basically means adequate food, clothing, and shelter. Everything else is primarily wants.
Note: For the propagation of the human race as a whole, there is a sort of "need" to reproduce. However, for the individual, the "need" to mate is not an essential life necessity.

when you've had a tough life, living day to day, not having a lot of money or a place to really call home, you learn to know the difference between want and need. I want a lot of things, but what I don't have I don't miss and what I don't miss I don't need.

yes i do..
i want:fine clothes,a nice house, a nice job, a family and to travel
i need: an education to make money or a living, a shelter, food, clothes, water, food, and the basic necessities
so many things in my life i take as "needs" such as that new clothing line or shirt or new make up as though i cannot live with out it or that new pair of shoes that i always buys.i mean i also need love, wisdom, being healthy, rationalo,a helpful family to help me, and learning from mistakes.
we as people take too many things for granted such as relationships or sometimes love or other times i also take for granted the small things that my bf does for me which includes just eating dinner together and spending quality time. we want so much and expect that yet how much of that we need is a small percentage.

Hi Rena:
What i need in life are those basic necessities: affordable, availability and nutritional foods. Clothings for my daily use. Shelter. We have yet to own a house of my dream. I want these all my needs in life to be fulfilled especially the third one to prepare future needs of my daughter.
Have a great day!

Need: That which is essential to life
example: food,(including water), shelter, clothing
Want: That which is desired in life
example: money, cars, recognition
Maslow's hierarchy of needs seems to explain some of it.
Humans are complex animals......so unpredictable.

I suppose we can do without sex, if we have the essentials.
I don't know. I guess human interaction is essential to the psychological well being.
We can live like primitive apes and romp around in the jungle and live off the land. However we choose to interact with others of our kind and maintain some of our sanity or insanity.
It is one of the more fundamental questions we all have.
Why do you ask?
Thank you for your question though

Yes. I know. I want right now my FREEDOM, and I need my free place in order to work with (to write) my books. In fact, there is no difference between my need and my wish (what I want).

Well yes there is a very big diffrence, I find out today I have things that I wanted and I really didn´t need them at all.
Like shoes, bags and all those things we don´t really need, we just want to show the worls we have the economic capacity to buy them.
Good luck! ;D

Yep. what you NEED is simple. Air, water, food, sunshine (I dont think we can live w/o sunshine...) money, feelings, love, and spirituality. These are the things that are most necessary for life.
What we WANT however, is enormously different. Power, wealth, happiness, material things, immortality...
People often confuse what they want with what they truly need. You can live on very little, especially if you have God on your side.
