I know from personal experience that you don't necessarily need to fit the runway model type to be a model.
I'm 5'1'', but I have previously done commercial print modeling, which is basically advertisements in print. Depending on which market you focus on, it is completely possible for you to be a model with your body type.
The way to get into the business is to attend open calls and auditions. Some things you could try to get involved with are ProScout, National Discovery, and AMTC. They all require money and seminars -- but that's a way to get exposure to many agencies.
You need to have Comp Cards, which are cards usually the size of a whole or a half sheet with one big picture on the front, and four smaller pictures to demonstrate variety on the back, along with your measurements, age, and contact information. You send these out to agencies.
Bear in mind that getting into the business is very hard, and requires more than just a pretty face. If you really want to succeed, you need to really want it, and be aggressive about it.

It's true that the modeling industry generally looks for taller men and women, but that doesn't mean someone of your height has no chance. The most important thing is your look, and that is VERY subjective. The modeling agencies would be willing to bring you in if they believe you have a look that is marketable. What makes a person have a look that is marketable? Hard to say, because it changes so often. That's why the business is so competitive. You could get picked up by the first modeling agency you interviewed with, then again you could try for ten years and never get a single call back. If you want to give it a try, you need to invest in a portfolio. Find a reputable photographer to take a bunch of different pictures of you wearing various outfits -- you know, wearing things that are fashionable and flatter you -- get a bunch of 8x10 black-and-white glossies made up, put the best ones in your portfolio, and then start hitting the modeling agencies. Be prepared to invest a lot of money in clothes, shoes, accessories, make-up, and the portfolio itself, and remember you can't take rejection personally -- either they'll like your look or they won't, and along the way you'll probably meet some folks in the biz who will give you pointers about how you can tweak your look to get noticed. Good luck!

First things first, no matter how big you are or what size you are, EVERY girl is beautiful. You're only 12 your body is still changing & it's going to continue to change for a while. I was a chubby pre teen, I'm almost 16 1/2 & I'm around 115. & You may not even be fat, it seems to me like you just have muscle & muscle DOES weigh more than fat does, so you may not even be fat it's muscle that you might have going on. & thats a GOOD thing :) no matter what always keep your head up !

I am not entirely sure how to get started, but just wanted to let you know there are a lot of avenues. Good luck! Yay for muscular legs. :)
