Depends on which Christmas you want (Western or Ethiopian Orthodox)? If you want to go for the Western X-Mas (25th December) both British Airways and Ethiopian Airlines (the two most competitive airlines that fly to Addis) have fares for around £430. However, Ethiopian has reduced it's baggage allowance to 20kilos (from 40 kilos) and BA has a 23Kilo limit. Both flights, from the UK are around 9 1\2 to 10 hours. Ethiopian Airlines refuels at Rome and is normally delayed by at least 1/2 hour longer than scheduled. BA refuels at Alexandria. If you want to go for the Ethiopian Orthodox Christmas (January 5th), fares always increase as you get closer to December and can start at £550+ You can get cheaper flights with Yemeni Airlines but you have to stop over (for two days) at Sannah. For the latest fares try the links below -

Honestly, I don't think you can ever find cheap tickets to Ethiopia. It's usually around $1500 (+/- a few hundred). And if you want to go during the holidays, then you should probably buy it now..it'll probably be a little cheaper.

I suggest you try Ethiopian Airlines!!
