Does this tradition just divide the social order in high schools across the nation? What are your thoughts about this tradition, whether you're for or against it? All thoughtful answers are good in this interesting debate.

I really didn't care about it high school...and could not tell you who were our Queen and King if my life depended on it (it was over 30 years ago for me!)...
Yes, it divides kids I think...it becomes a REAL popularity contest....usually everyone knows who's gonna win anyway...
I really think it should be up to each class whether they have one or not...let them vote on it...
It's really a silly tradition if you ask me....

It makes people participant in spectating others make spectacules of themselves. Now ask yourself this? Where are those past homecoming queen and kings now? What have they done with themselves in the future? Here is where you should be measuring whether its worth making a big deal in having this type of event or not.

I honestly think that there are more things that create such divisions than who gets crowned king and queen. I don't remember who was king and queen when I was in school and that was only 8 years ago.
