I bought this thing from Babies R Us that is made of mesh and plastic. You can put food in it, and the baby can gnaw on it without getting choked. It's awesome! Try putting a piece of cold fruit, like a banana or peach in it. It will feel good to his/her gums to gnaw on it, and it will be nutritious!

From the teething front, times three:

Get yourself a lollipop mold from the local candy/bakery supply. fill it with baby food fruits and freeze, without sticks.

It eases the pain, makes the little ones smile, and keeps your sanity.

I am not sure I know they need something
to chew on, we use to use teething biscuits...lol...havn't had a baby around for a while...lol

i like to use frozen waffled just watch to make sure they do not get soggy... hey that is what the little holes are for to catch the drool... lol
