Just happened today. I had no idea what kind of meaningful insights could be gleaned off of Night by Elie Wiesel, so I just handed in the paper that had all my crossed-out introductions on it. I figure I'm better off with an F than a zero.

Yes that is the beauty of partial credit. In engineering classes as long as you write down some equations and punch some numbers, even if they are completely wrong, you get like half credit for the assignment

YES! OMG, I was sooo messed up with assignment......so much so I was feeling like hiding in my corner, but I just did it and attached a note saying I did not understand anything, but am handing it in cause I respect deadlines.
Anyhoo, I did alright, but my teacher had given me another chance to redo it.
