I say go for it. You're most likely going to have to learn it at some point unless you don't plan to go to college! It'll give you a GREAT sense of accomplishment if you can work hard & pass it. I have made B's & C's that I had to work for that gave me more pride than an easy A. :) If you are struggling with a particular concept, email me & I'll try to find an outside the box approach to help. Good luck! :)

I have been tutoring math students and i think that if you believe this math course is too difficult, go ahead and drop it. Remember, only drop if you think you are way behind and don't think that you have enough back ground in math. Other excuse such as too much work or it takes too long or homework is such a frustration are lame excuses.
Beside, i know students who work very hard but do not have enough skills to complete the course. Some decided to take lower course such as intermediate or elementary algebra. This is a good idea, it may be time consuming, but if you planning on having more than one math courses, take basic steps like these would help later on.
I wish you luck.

Quiting should never be a thought. High GPA's mean little. Many kids graduate high school with them and then go on to college and realize they were let down. I've taught college and have heard many time how a student got A's in high school and can't in college. Welcome to the real world. I'd hire the person with the 2.0 average that never gives up over the 4.0 any day. I'm not suggesting that anyone with a 4.0 isn't capable of performing, but a person who doesn't give up and works really hard, shows great character. Ask for help, it is everywhere.

Have you tried other options besides crawling away in defeat? Tutoring, for example? If yes, then math may well just not be your thing, and you should look for your talented thing elsewhere. If not, why not? I didn't give up on my 1st marriage until I realized I was thinking about swimming to Hawaii. Only you can decide whether or not you've done your best, and you'll always have to live with the consequences of your decision and find your own peace of mind. Good luck.

If it does not affect your GPA,wont effect anything negatively, and isnt required then yea i dont think it would be a problem to quit it, of course quitting isnt the right way to go, but if its making you that anxious and worrying you that can effect your other classes and can put your brain into over load and you wont learn anything anyways, i think you should take algebra 1 again if possible and jus continue to study algebra II, then when you get it better take it again. You will eventually probably understand better, and if not thats fine alot of people dont get math.
Oh an you spell your name just like i spelled my son's Kody :) Awesome

I was suprised how usefull algebra II is, although at the time I did not like it much as well. But if you try to ask somebody more experienced and skilled what is the application of particular notions in other disciplines (topology, geometry) you will find that it is the root, the skeleton of all things. Just try to find (or ask) for the interesting examples. It is better somebody to explain to you such things in live, not here.
DON"T DROP IT!

I know how you feel big time.
But It really doesn't make since to drop the class if the class is a requirement. You're gonna have to take it anyway so you might as well get it over with.
Get some tutoring or better yet just tell your professor that you are struggling and need some help; maybe he/she can help you during their office hours.
Don't let it bum you out. Good Luck

I do not think you should drop your Math class as Maths you need to have a skill in your future career and life. If you need help, ask the teacher for help or alternatively use maths study website such as http://www.mymaths.co.uk. You'll have to log in so this is the user name for our school:
Login: compton
Password: roll.
Hope this helps.

Kody,
It is probably a good idea to drop it while you can and check out a copy of the text so that you can begin working on the material and take it at a later date. I would be glad to assist if/when you need it. I am a former mathematics instructor. Have a great weekend and a wonderful school year!
Thanks,

I'd learn the math. In my opinion, math is the most useful and generally applicable skill anyone can acquire, and there is absolutely not nearly enough math training in the world at large. Buckle down, learn the math, get smarter. You won't regret it.
