Please be careful. Some old wives tales are harmeless but some can cause complications and can actually be dangerous. The truth is your baby will come when it's ready and if it doesn't the best place to get help is at the hospital with professionals.
No caster oil or herbal medicines.............some say a nice walk or an orgasm will help things along.
Congrats and good luck

I am dilated to 2cm, and I am 38 weeks (39 on Sunday) pregnant and my baby is so low (dropped) that the doc can feel his head with her fingers when she checks me. But he will not come out. I throw up all the time. I can only hold down Sprite and Gatorade and the occasional Snickers. I hurt all the time and I have sex everyday trying to go into labor. No labor but it does seem to be helping me dilate. Everyweek when I go to the doc, my cervix keeps progressing. I wouldnt drink castor oil because it increases the chance that your baby will have a bowel movement inside you and that can make you very sick. But I am sticking with sex everyday (weither u want to or not) because it really seems to be working! Good Luck!

-Driving over a speed bump or train tracks really fast.
Oh, and that is an old wives tale.
If you really want to jump start labor, just walk, have sex, and relax. That baby will come when s/he is ready. No need to rush things.
I understand that pregnancy is uncomfortable, but you have to remember that it doesn't last long and that the baby will be here before you know it.
Please avoid caster oil. That is actually proven to cause intestinal contractions, not labor contractions. Either way, its dangerous!

walking worked for crap for me! i was the same way three centimeters dilated, from July 15 to September 10! For two weeks I walked around the 18 hole golf course behind my house TWICE ever day! Nothing happened! They finally induced me on the tenth, my doctor said that if they hadn't induced me I most likely wouldn't have had him for another two weeks!
But as with all wives tales even though it didn't work for me it may work for you!
Best of luck!

I grew up in Colorado. We always heard that going 4-Wheeling was a way to induce labor. Not true, but you wanted old wive's tales....

My midwife used an enema and it worked! As the others have said walk, orgasm, and if your that uncomfortable you can tell your DR. and they can induce you when your dilated enough they break the water and bam your in labor. Good luck
