Just out of interest - is it a disciplinary offence where you work to access it?

If people get fired or disciplined for surfing the internet or participating on YA while at work, then they deserve it. They have a job to do, not be answering questions on YA or surfing the web

My work internet is used for work-related purposes only, I never access YA while at work, or anything else except work stuff.
My work hours are very flexible though, so I often pop in for a couple of minutes a couple of times a day if I'm at home.
It would be a disciplinary matter if I were to be found using the internet for personal use at work.

I am accessing this from my office computer, but I'm a salaried full time instructor at a university. These are my office hours not my teaching hours. If a student comes to my office, I'll help him/her.

If I were an hourly worker on the clock, I'd still get on YA. I'd probably feel like I deserved it though a little bit if I got busted.

I would definitely think my boss had a point; however, my work doesn't suffer if I spend a little time on Y!A. I am a good worker and am totally caught up on all my projects, so why should I be punished for finishing my work in 4 hours just because it takes all the other drones 8 hours to do their jobs?

I think i see what you mean. When you post a question the time comes up how long ago etc,so its easy for the boss to check and then its obvious what you do Good point.Sort the chaff from the wheat.Star

I doubt people will worry too much but it is easy to track what people are upto on works computers. If you get the sack then just accept it.
