The problem: Julio works as a quality control expert in a beverage factory. The assmebly line that he monitors produces about 20,000 bottles in a 24 hr period. Julio samples about 120 bottles and hour and rejects the line if he finds more than 1/50 of the sample to be defective. About how many defective bottles should Julio allow befor rejecting the line?

I believe I can get the answer on my own, I am having trouble in how to write the formula to get me to that point.

If you copied it correctly it is simply 1/50 of the sampling. Do the calculation.

If he samples 120 bottles an hour and if he finds 1/50 th of the sample defective, it comes to 2.4 bottles, but since you can't have 2.4 bottles, he has to reject if he finds more than 2 bottles (3 or more) defective.
