I get accused of that too, some white supremacist ****** on here actually went so far as to email me and call me a "foolish white girl," and tell me that I turned my back on my race and black people were laughing at me behind my back! Geez, I didn't even say anything bad about white people! Anyway, my point is, you can stand for peace and it shows you are a much more progressive thinker than these people who want to be derisive and encourage division. Just because you want to be fair to all sides doesn't mean you are going against black people, or whatever these people are trying to imply. Don't let anyone tell YOU where your allegiances lie, if you are seeing past color you are putting into practice what everyone preaches, so good for you!
Semper - I just read the response you were referring to, and I can see why it bothered you. Don't let him bother you, I think it's funny that he could assume to know that much about you just from Y!A. You don't strike me as weak, exactly the opposite:-) Let him get on with himself, you know who you are and I appreciate the way you think, for one.
Anyway, as I understand it reparations were never seen through because of all sorts of problems in their implementation, namely the fact that no one kept records of slaves or their owners. It's about as easy to prove you're the descendent of a slave as it is to prove your grandma was a Cherokee princess! (Native humor- Cherokees didn't have princesses:-) Anyway, personally I think that if reparations of any sort should happen, it should be these Fortune 500 companies that were built on the back of slave labor (like the tobacco companies), donating money to charities or to set up college funds for underpriveleged youth, or something to that effect.

Semper stand to what you believe, what is yourself, ignore others if they are going to affect you negatively. Be yourself. what would a person gain if he gained the whole world and lost himself? It's a shame. If a black person criticizes another black, he's considered a sell out. And if a white person criticizes a black, then he's a racist. Life is not like that. You can't have it all ways. In other words blacks cannot be criticized.
