is this a good knife honer and sharpener? i use a wetstone normally but this seems like it would be so much easier to use

I think that it is better than as compared to the wet stone you might be using. You can also try out some brands of knife sharpeners like Accusharp.

A steel if simply the best way to sharpen a knife I know. I use a lot of knifes when I hunt and that is by far the best way to keep a good edge

I use a system by LANSKY. Easy to use and you always get the same angle. I have upgraded to diamond hones in place of the ones that come with the kit, which is about $40.
