That's a pretty broad question. Would I recommend it for what? If you are looking for a classic car to restore....sure, why not. There are parts available from a place called Clark's Corvair along with some others. They have a decent following in the classic car world and are priced pretty reasonably compared with some other collector cars. I have a couple friends that use them for daily drivers.

Find a corvair collectors website and make your decision based on what you find there. Parts would be relativly easy to find if you follow the links found on sites like that. But i`ll tell you now you will spend a little bit of money. fun cars though and eye catchy

Geesh no way!!! Those unfortunately were a concept that GM didn't have the technology for at the time. I love American cars the newer ones, but Corvairs used to overheat in traffic. They were such a nightmare that people started to lose faith in US cars. I try to buy American whenever possible. (my reason is the Asian men are getting filthy rich, and will soon be buying up all our women, we're dirt poor because they have all the money now.

Yes I have been in search of one for two years now.
I want the early 60s, first edition Hard Top. Been looking as I said and just not the right one yet. Plus I am in Las Vegas and do not want to drive one from east coast. Fear it may not make the long trip.
But I am looking

for what...commuting to work? no...racing? no..gas mileage and low cost? no...for a fun Sunday driver or show car...? yes...if u like working on cars....any 20/30 year old car is gona take money and a corvair isnt the easyest to work on or get parts for...i had a 1965 and loved it.... the 1964 and older are not as safe due to bad handeling..prone to fliping over...read unsafe at any speed..by Ralph Nader

From what I"ve heard they do have a cooling problem seeing how they are air cooled engines. Popular car though.

i'd recommend it only if you were looking for a classic "blue collar" type of car
