You may not be aware if they ruptured in the bath, but you would probably find that you continue to leak for some time after. You may keep 'wetting yourself'. If this happens wear a pad and see if it is getting wet, not just a little damp. Also, smell it, amniotic fluid smells a little sweet, a bit like barley sugar. If you think your membranes have ruptured, you need to be seen by your midwife or Dr, most places like to induce if labour has not started spontaneously within 24-36 hours.

I didnt notice waters breaking at all with my first two, so I dont think you would notice in the bath, (I presume mine broke then not actually sure). My third child i was soaked! (Very embarassing).

Good luck with your first baby, and I hope everything goes well for you.

I used to worry about that too. But contrary to what you might believe. Your "water" doesn't just gush out and then it is done like on tv. It will come in small gushes that don't go away. I thought I was peeing my pants when I would do to stand up. You won't miss it :)

No, you wouldn't necessarily know if it broke. If it keeps trickling, then you would. When mine broke it was just a trickle when I went to the bathroom, so I really wasn't sure that that's what it was.
