Where you live, when people see it, they feel welcome? Or they say, "don't go near THAT place!"

Mine says "Go Away!" after we got broke into, we put an alarm system, bars on windows, motion detectors outside all doors, and 8 cameras! Now the thieves (teen boys) try a new tactic; they knock on our door with a clipboard in their hand. We have a pa system so we do not have to actually open the door, but when we see them standing there (on the monitor), we don't even bother to answer the door!

Amazingly, when we were installing the cameras, one teenager boy parked across the street from our home, angry, watching us install the cameras. The police said that they would be back! These THEVES feel they had the "right" go to back in a month later and steal what we replaced, again! WHAT NERVE!

Go Away! And we mean it!!

Mine has a big wooden WELCOME sign hanging on the wall outside my porch. Btw, I have 3 cctv, an alarm system, a motion detector and iron grille on my windows and doors too.

My home is lush with landscaping and very peaceful and inviting and we love it.

However, we too have an alarm sign at our side gate, not intruding on the whole look of the place, but definitely visible. Almost everybody around us has alarm systems too. I also have a security screen installed in front of my front door with a deadbolt.
I never open the screen to anybody I don't know and the alarm system is on anytime we are away from home and all windows secured.
"Trust in the Lord, but tie up your camel", I always say.

**** You know you could always put up a sign that says, "My insurance company says no more bodies!" *****

I would seriously think about MOVING and/or getting some night vision gear and tracking those idiot teenagers down and scaring the poop out of them. However, I believe it was 50cent who said something like on the streets you don't want to look like the baddest badazz because you'll be a target. And I think that has some validity, so you'd probably in all likely hood be targeted even more by trying to fight back.
So then we come back to moving....I'd move and save my family and myself all the headaches.

I am sorry you were violated and have to go and install things for your protection.. Long ago we could leave our doors unlocked with no one to bother, but not anymore. I live in an apartment complex and I think my place says welcome, BUT with caution.
