How about you quit chasing it back in there? The thing is only running back in because it sees you and is scared. Leave for a little bit, and it will come out on its own.

No need to break your head. Keep your car in sunlight and spray some pesticide inside. keep it that way for an hour. Any damn lizard will be out

Just put the A/C on its coldest setting, at night, and go for a spin. The critter'll probably freeze to death. If that doesn't work, put some ammonia or smelling salts into an atomizer and spray it into that vent.
All that if you regard it to be a pest. If you want to make a pet of it, leave some food out for it, and be prepared to catch it when it comes out to eat.

block the vents with something before you try to chase it out. If you have a fish net, try that.

Spray it with mosquito killer lotion and keep moth balls or camphor balls inside . Its presence there could be very harmful to you.
