All modern pop music is commericial
Sex sells
Therefore, the vast majority of modern pop tripe
consists of fake breasted tarts such as fergie singing
about such sleazy topics as casual oral sex and practically lap dancing on music videos

There's no art. It's all banging the bell for Pavlov's dog without thinking. Beatings, butt and boffing is the recurring theme, but not very creatively done.
I'm not going to be a hypocrite and say I never got into a song that cussed or talked about gettin' busy. In fact, the blues songs from the 40's and 50's talked openly of these things. I'm just saying what Peggy Lee said: "Is That All There Is?"
The real problem is downloads. With no control over releasing albums, people can just greedily pick out a couple catchy beats and disappear quasi-satisfied for ten minutes. With an album such as Pink Floyd's "The Wall", Moody Blues' "Days Of Future Passed", Queensryche's "Operation Mindcrime" or "Empire", or even Styx's "Kilroy Was Here", there is a challenge to hear each song as it relates to theme.
Concepts and artistic impression are lost when you can't settle in and really get to know a song. When your audience doesn't want or have to take the time to really listen, or even to read and understand the lyrics, you get people buying songs with cuss words, violence and body parts for the sake of cuss words, violence and body parts.
When Fall Out Boy, Shania Twain or Kanye West make a concept album, I'll buy it.

Not only is it rude, offensive, and vulgar, it is redundant (repetative).
All you hear today is
Cars, Money. Bling, I broke up with my bf / gf etc.
No originality. Though I like the music, I do find some of the lyrics to be raunchy.

people want attention and they figure by putting raunchy lyrics and cussing and swearing in their music, they'll get it. plus if they cause a controversy, they'll get even more publicity. also, they just might want to be considere 'tough' or 'cool' by swearing.
i think it's really lame and tacky when artists do that. i have very VERY few songs on my ipod that have swearing in them, just because it just makes the song feel so negative to me, and i don't want to surround myself with negative things. the few songs i do have are there only because i love the artists so much.
if you want some raunch-less alternatives to popular artists, e-mail me and i could probly hook you up with some more positive, cleaner music.

I'm not a fan of raunchy lyrics, although Prince makes raunchy lyrics seem sexy *LOL*
