The Knights Templar began as a band of poor knights to guard the road from Europe to the Holy Land. They were given "tips" by the people they protected and soon amassed a great fortune. The nobility of the day began getting jealous of their wealth and power so King Phillip of France, under the blessing of the Pope, had them rounded up on Friday the 13th. They were tortured and killled and their leader was later burned at the stake. As the fire rose up around him he swore that before the year was over that Phillip and the Pope would be dead. Both died that same year. They were a mysterious group that many think were the founders of the Society of FreeMasonry or The Masons. Look up Rosslyn Chapel and you'll learn much more.

The myth of bad luck on Friday the 13th originated on Friday October 13, 1307. That's the day that when French King Philip IV had all Knights Templar arrested. In the years following, most were tortured and burnt at the stake.

Well one guy said before me that is was the day the Knights of the Templar were executed. That's true but the king of France did not ored it the Pope did and the 13th was the day all the people he sent the execution orders to were to open the letters and commence with rounding up and killing the knights. The reason he did this was because the Knights of the Templar kept many secres of the church that the pope didn't want getting out so he had them kileld before they could do so. Kind of stupid because they had been keeping this secret for years before this pope came into power. Probably needs more researching for the motive.

The Templar knights where kill on Friday thee 13th. I can not remember the year, but it was the king of France who ordered it because they were gaining to much wealth and power. The official excuse was heresy.
