My period starts on (or around) the third. It did that-ended early, and has started again on the 28th! Why?

Ever since I got off of birth control, things have been getting more and more unpredictable with my period. The "norm" is to start on or around the third, go for three days...then skip 2 or three days, and resume for 3 or 4 more days. The last period I had was earlier this month (sept). It lasted for three days and just never started again. Now here it is again, without any warning signs i usually get, late in the month! Could it be a miscarriage? A cyst?

It can take a few months for the body to adjust to being off the medication, but I would recommend seeing your doctor for further evaluation to see what they think could be going on.
