If that were true, then genealogy, art, books, ancient cultures, etc, would not hold the allure for anyone. We all leave our mark on the world whether it is a painting or a loved ones memories.

Few will acomplish anything that makes them remembered through the centuries. Ah... but we all leave ripples in time.
