The appearance of Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'" on Sopranos seems to have really given the song it's second wind. It's been on the radio here all the time, ever since the final episode aired a month or two ago. I actually quite like the song, but it's kind of starting to grate now.

Kenny Loggins was the soundtrack king in the 80s. If not for Footloose and Top Gun, his career would have been over much sooner. The same could probably now be said for Bryan Adams.

John Cafferty and The Beaver Brown Band made a career out of one song on one soundtrack... Eddie and The Cruisers and the classic "On The Darkside".

this has happened to a lesser degree with alot of the 'seattle sounding' artists on
(1) the singles soundtrack. (remember that one?) :) (2) and with alot of the folky/indie sounding people, the 'garden state' soundtrack helped them alot!

it's pretty much a commonly-held belief in the music industry among publishers that synch rights is one of the best ways to 'break in.' the list of artists who have taken off because of synching into film is FAR too long to mention
