SweetPea...there is no "getting there." You already ARE there! Just as everyone else is whole and complete exactly as they are.
Huh? Whaddya mean?
We humans look at the world around us as being incomplete, and ourselves as being incomplete. That is a falacy created by EGO. EGO is what makes us feel separate, alone in a cold, hostile world. It just ain't so.
Somewhere when we're 4, 5, 6, 7 years old we kind of "split" because of what someone says to us or something that's done to us, and we "interpret" that "whatever-it-is" as something that we "are" or "become." That may include "bad," "stupid," "unloveable," "alone," "ugly," or whatever. This is the birth of EGO. EGO then goes on to build a false world to feed itself and keep it "safe." That's why people want to be "different" by being like everyone else.
What?
Yeah, take a look at "fashions" (clothes, hair styles, etc.) and popular toys (both for grown-ups and children). It's nothing more that EGO wanting to fit in--doesn't want to be "alone."
It's all BS. We are ALL connected whether we realize it and recognize it or not. And, no religion, political affiliation, skin color, type of clothing, or anything else can change that. We are ALL connected.
We are all complete because we are fulfilling the DESTINY we have set up for ourselves, that' we've agreed to before we came to this plane. It's HOW we interact and deal with others and the world around us that makes us "different," because no one reacts axactly the same to any give situation. That's the beauty of the Universe--infinite variety. Just as it should be.
And, whole and complete!
How do you kill EGO and really start to LIVE? Read, meditate, find Peace, Love, and Joy within yourself, and make choices that affect the way you have been taught to think about the world. Get Eckhart Tollie's book, "The Power of NOW" to begin with, and read many others, such as Wayne Dyer, Dali Lama, Dan Millman, and others that write and teach about killing off the EGO.

I'm not sure. That feeling doesn't seem to remain in me as long as I think it will. It seems to be the reverse side of all my doubts and fears. Maybe I get a good night's sleep and I wake up feeling so strongly that love and light prevail.

Are you sure?
If you were, you wouldn't be asking this question, instead you'd be unconsciously strolling through life with a smile on your face and whistling dixie
