there is normally a pin setting on most drives. however with the SATA drives, your master drive is decided in your BIOS settings on most mother boards. To allow your SATA drive to be your master drive is very simple in this configuration, set it as your primary boot drive in the BIOS and the IDE drive can be pinned as a master drive but will not over ride the settings of the BIOS.

NO!!!! (and yes)

The drive you want as the "master" is a SATA drive. The one you listed as your slave is an IDE drive.

That means they will have totally different connectors on them, and will be attached to different kinds of cables within your computer. When you are dealing with "master" and "slave" it requires that both drives be on the same cable. So there is no "master/slave" relationship between the drives.

But you CAN use the two drives together. In the computer's BIOS you can set whether it boots from the SATA drive or from the IDE drive. Set it to boot from SATA, and the Raptor will be the primary drive (like you wanted). The other will be the secondary drive. No "master" or "slave" has to be set.

you can use pretty much any combination, as long as you set the jumpers right on the back of the hard drives.
