When they first showed him I was surprised because they really made it appear that he was dead in the final episode of last season. They made you think that he was alive, but in the end you see that it was all in Hilda's imagination. Santos died.

I asked this same ? this morning and got alot of answers . I was also confused . but yeah he is really dead cause the actor who played Santos is a lawyer now on shark . He was in drive too but that got cancelled . I felt so bad for Hilda and now Betty trying to keep the whole family together . i wish they would bring the dad back from Mexico he could get them on the same page. good luck and keep watching .

Santos is dead, him being in the room with Hilda was just her dream
I liked Santos and wanted him to still be alive :( :( :(
Why do people answer questions like this if they don't watch the show?

Aww man it's been on my mind all morning.. yeah it was a big twist. it was basically a depression induced hallucination.
I was super bummed when they reveled that it was all in her head.
you can tell this because of the difference in the room. When santos was there it was sunny bright vibrant and colorful. But when Betty walked in you saw that it was dark, depressing, and empty probably a reflection of how hilda was really feeling.

Hilda was just imagining the whole thing with Santos in her bedroom. He died, and she was in denial. But she finally came to realize it wasn't going to change, and he was gone in the end of the episode.

I was too, but it appears that Hilda was only "imagining" that Santos was still alive. I don't think she's able to comprehend his death; I was curious why if he was alive, she didn't want to leave her room and why he kept saying he had to move to his "own place". It was sad.

He's dead. The sister was just dreaming he was in bed with her. That's why she's been in her room all this time- the little boy made a comment at the beginning of the show about how she's been up there too long.

He is dead, Hilda was hiding in hr room thinking of him and pretending/wishing/halucinating he was there. Thats why in the end she was crying w/ Betty cause she has just finally allowed herself to realize that he was gone. She had never admitted it to herself and when she did it became real.

Sorry, I had to watch Earl's first episode in prison. Next week I'll be watching Earl's second episode in prison and Jerry Seinfeld's return to NBC on 30 Rock...I'll probably be watching both of those shows the rest of the season.
I've never even seen a single episode of Ugly Betty. Is it good? I've heard good things about it. I suppose I'd watch it if it was on a different night, but I can't give up my NBC sitcoms on Thursday night.
