Anyone heard the story of a father getting off a helicopter flight to be greeted by his daughter and throws her up in the air playfully but forgets that the propellers are still going causing her to be beheaded ? Is this an urban legend or is this a true story ?

It happened in the 1970's to a person who was being shown around LA by the LA county fire department. She wasn't beheaded. She was more cut to shreds. And yes, she died.

My uncle was a helicopter pilot with the LA County fire department from 1975-1997. He was a close friend of the pilot of said helicopter. My uncle and the pilot in question both told us about this.

It has spread to urban legend proportions with changes to the story (beheading) and such. Now everyone knows someone who knows someone who knows someone that it supposedly happened to. But I personally knew the pilot and he and my Uncle had no reason to lie. I believe it hit the papers and the news back then, too. I was fairly young, but the gruesomeness of it stuck with me all this time. Weird to see it addressed in Answers...

LORD, I hope it's not true and I think not, most helicopters public transport have higher blades than that which a person could toss a child into (I hope)..

I wouldn't be surprised if it has happened at one point or another but it's probably urban legend i.e. it's happened in every town.
