I just wondered what people thought about Barry not even suiting up for the last three games of the season. Granted, the games mean nothing in regards to the playoffs for either team. Still, it seems wrong for him to abandon his teammates at this point. After all, these are the people who stuck up for him through the steroid contraversy. These are the players who cheered him to 756 and never said a foul word to the media. And now, after all they have done for them, he just up and leaves them. To me, this shows just how classless this guy is. What do you think? Best answer to the most articulate argument, even if you disagree with me.

Ted Williams skipped the Red Sox' season-ending road trip to New York in 1960.

Now, if someone wants to offer that Ted was classless, they're looking for a black eye, bloody nose, and broken tooth (metaphorically speaking of course).

If one wants to argue that times have changed, fine, but be more specific.

Bonds is baseball royalty. He can do whatever he wants. He may yet surprise us on Saturday or Sunday. Baseball's powers-that-be (no matter how much they want to wash their corporate hands of him) have been persuasive behind closed locker room doors before.

Well, his legs are giving him trouble. Imagine having to carry around the weight of that big head every day of your life. Must have neck issues as well

As you pointed out, the last 3 games are irrelevant and will only help the Dodgers gate. Perhaps Bonds doesn't want to do that.

Bonds may also be ticked off that the Giants have already acknowledged that they won't be signing him again another year. It shouldn't be a surprise, but it may have hurt him feelings.

Another issue is perhaps there's a chance to bean him,

If he's hoping to secure another contract, perhaps there's a better shot at getting one when you finish the season with "the hr champion" rather than "wow, did you see how beat up he was at the end of the season"

Perhaps he bought hr # 762 and if he doesn't get a contract, then he would have that ML record 762nd home run ball.

Whatever the possible reason, we know that Bonds is not a team player. He could use everthing as an excuse.

Bonds has put up great number, even before the BALCO mess. He probably would have made the HOF by then. He does things we may all question. How do you think he feels when the team tells him they don't want him back next year? Can't believe he felt good about it so what does he owe back. Sure would help an AL team as a DH and maybe last longer in the game. How about Clemens flying home between starts and not being with the team? This has happened before and will happen again. Baseball is a business, no longer a game unfortunately.

Personally, don't care. I believe he cheated (he already admitted he mistakenly used the creme) and wish that Aaron still had the record.

He has always been an arrogant, classless guy on and off the field. He probably thinks he is making a statement being that the Giants waited until the last second to let him know he wasn't coming back.

If he feels cheated, or lied to, he deserves it more than anyone. Perhaps he has gotten a little taste of what a true baseball fan felt when he broke the most famous record in baseball.

He is a rather selfish person. He was kicked off of his college team at Arizona State before they had a recount and finally let him back on the team. He probably doesn't want to get booed for 3 more games. The Dodgers and Giants have a rivalry anyway and I'm sure Dodger fans really let him have it when the Giants go to Los Angeles. But by not going, he's showing what kind of a teammate he is. Reminds me of when Sosa bailed on the Cubs years ago.

He's just being Barry Bonds. He doesn't think he owes anything to anyone. Not a thing to the people that helped pay his multi million dollar salary each year. He might even fear for his life, who knows. Nothing would surprise me in today's society. There could be some wacko out there trying to square their account with him for being a jerk to the public.

Let's face it, it's all about Barry and the hell with everyone else. Would you have expected anything different from this cheater?

Bonds is an odd bird. He is very selfish, and can care less about the people who were there top support him during his career.

You bring up a good point, but after all we are talking about Bonds.
