the rockies are two games behind arizona. arizona is in denver for a 3 game series this weekend.

if the rockies sweep the series, they will finish one game better than arizona. meanwhile, the padres are in milwaukee for 3 more games. if milwaukee can win 2 of 3, the rockies will finish ahead of the padres as well, making them NL West Champs.

Another possibility would be they tie for division lead by winning 2 of 3, and have a 1 game playoff game with Arizona and even possibly San Diego. (This also has a chance of happening for the wild card.) If it comes down to that, the Rockies have a tie-breaker over every team remaining in the race, giving them home field advantage throughout any play-in scenario.

What a great season for the Rockies and their fans deserve it. It would be very difficult to overtake two teams ahead of you with three games to go. Even if they win their last three games they can be shut out if either the Phillies or Mets, the one that doesn't win the division, or the Padres do the same.

yes, they are two games out, and face arizona for 3. so they need to sweep arizona, and the padres lose 2 of the next 3 games vs. milwaukee. But they can still make the playoffs as wildcard as well, but would have to hope either philly or ny mets lose out next 3, and rockies must win either 2 of 3 or sweep arizona, and padres lose 2 games.

Not outright, but they can still make the playoffs by winning the wildcard.
