How do I teach him to? We have 4 different kinds and he just doesn't seem to know how to do it. I tried to take out the non spil insert from the inside so he would know there is something inside, but he just wouldn't try to suck. I tried juice, milk and water, no succes. He is 8 months old and bottle fed.

Sometimes it just takes time. At 8 months not all children will be able to drink from a sippy cup. Give him time, and be patient. Always have the sippy cup as an option if you want him to learn to use it this early, but be patient about it.

honey, he's only 8 mos. old. there's no need to rush anything. personally, while incredicbly messy in the beginning, i like the cheap cups that just have the slitted spout. Lots more comes out and they get the hang of it. Otherwise, one trick my sis used to get her munchkin to realize there was good stuff in the cup was to give her sons a couple of sips with no lid. then they associated the cup with the good stuff and would have no problem trying to get something out of it. both her and i did this closer to a year, so maybe just wait a little while...

He might not want to drink out of one yet. Just keep trying and showing him how to use it, and eventually he'll get it. My daughter is 9 months old, and is just now getting used to how to hold onto the handles and drink- but she can't get anything out with the actual sippy part, so I use the bottle nipple (I use Avent bottles, so they are exchangeable).

wow, 8 months! My daughter started at 4 months. i introduced little by little everyday. Now she goes to town on her sippy (she's 7 months). just keep giving it to him, hold it for him, direct his hands to the handles. he'll learn. :)

Wait a while, then try again. He will figure it out. And, if he doesn't....what? Where is "sippy cup" in child growth and development? You are worrying about a non-issue.

He may be too young. Wait a few more months.

don't worry, he will get used to it! All it takes his for him to get a tiny bit out, and he'll get the hang of it! Just keep offering it to him!

8 months is kind of young to be starting the sippy cup. Please consult your pediatrician!!!!
