In my life, at various times, I have been able to speak some French, some German, and some Korean. Always managed to learn enough to get by adequately from day to day but would not consider myself to having been fluent in either one. I did learn though that if you try to speak the language of the country you are in, the folks are mostly willing to cut you some slack. You will be surprised to find out how many can speak some English. Just don't act like the ugly American, and expect them to be able to speak English, and show an interest in learning their language.

yes, I speak English and the other languages... Italian, a bit of French, German, Spanish, Tagalog, Bicol, Ilocano... I would love to learn to speak Greek because I'd like to communicate well with the locals when I visit Greece one day. Must be interesting to understand their way of writing too.

Here are the languages I currently speak:
English
Greek
Italian
Spanish
French (a few phrases)
Chinese (a few phrases)

I would love to learn more, I've always been a quick study when learning a foreign language.
