....Beckham coming to the US was more of a publicity stun for the MSL than anything else so yes it did spark more interest in US soccer... I have even heard a rumor the ronaldo is coming to play in the US idk if it is real or not ... so to answer your question Yes Beckham coming to the US did help the MLS get publicity.

P.S. Beckham is out for the season form a knee injury... idc i don't like him anyway =D

To say that soccer is becoming popular in the US is, at best, stretching the term "popular." It is not nearly as popular as most other sports followed by US kids and adults.

Still, one has to recognize that it is becoming slightly more popular. Perhaps and increase from zero is not much but it is something.

Beckham a factor? I don't think so. He's as famous as Shumacher is to Formula-One yet most here in the US don't know what sport he plays. I'd say it is coincidence.

i don't think it's a coincidence. bear in mind that the women's world cup is currently underway. and the USA's defeat to Brazil set a lot of tongues wagging.

admittedly, the beckham mania added to the frenzy.

I believe the MLS is going the right direction. By bringing famous international players, US soccer is growing rapidly.

Concidence....and maybe just alittle curiousity. I don't see the fascination.....he's been hurt more than he's played. Send him back. Sorry I don't think he's worth THAT much money.

I'm sure it's raised curiosity about the sport among non-followers.
