First, the potential employers will be interested in you and your institution's ability to train students in a particular field and do it well. If you produce the best students in a particular field, then the employers will tend to recruit from you more than competing institutions. If you have a high regard in the business world, then your students will already have an edge. Once hired, however, they will be expected to live up to the training that they have recieved. Students should be able to take their knowledge and convert them into skills that will make an employer better than he or she already is. They will in fact be looking for the cream of the crop. It is also important for employees to work well together and show allegiance to the firm.
