Many of them definitely do. If they can't totally make it on their looks, their good looks certainly helps to open doors and grease the hinges that would otherwise not be so accepting of them. Human nature just works that way. When we see someone we perceive as attractive, our initial response is to "like" them. We smile and the act of smiling makes us feel good. We attribute that good feeling to them, and like them even more. Because we like them, you try to be friendly. We excuse their little foibles, we make excuses for them; if they are having a hard time, we try to help them. This isn't not to say that all beautiful women got where they are on looks alone. Not every hardly. But a lot got a lot further than they ever would have, had they not been beautiful. Know what, though? It's not just women....same goes for men, although, I think, to a much lesser degree. Human nature is much more forgiving of an unattractive male then an unattractive female.

It really comes down to upbringing. Women who get by on their looks alone generally have nothing else to recommend and come from families where they were taught that they didn't have to be anything more than pretty. Women who are attractive but are also educated and intelligent don't rely solely on their looks but are, generally, not above using them in certain situations in conjunction with a well considered agenda which I really wouldn't classify as "getting by" on looks. It's not their fault that some people are shallow and why not use it to your advantage if there is no other way to get the job done? Cute and dumb will get you by but cute and smart will get you over.

I think life is easier if you're better looking, and good looking guys get by just as easy as the good looking girls.

They can if they want to. You can't blame someone for using 'it' if the have 'it'. If a good looking girl gets over on a guy by using her looks are you going to blame her or the guy?
