i think the goverment is obviously by the people seeing as we vote them into power thus making it for the people. one of your responsibilities as a voter is to decide who you will vote for, knowing what that person is likly to vote for ar agianst. since emocracy in its pure form is impossible our current goverment is the closesest to a "for the people" type of goverment as we are going to get an still have the sucess that we have had as a nation

The people come at least third in gov't.

First and foremost comes the politician himself. No politician is going to end his career just to do the right thing or to help the people (well, very few at least, some have in the past). This extends to protecting other politicians in an effort to keep their own scandals from the light.

After that comes Big Business. They come before the people for one major reason, to win an election you have to appeal to them before you can even be considered by the people. The insanely high costs of campaigning means that businesses are one the largest contributor. Without the backing of business it is virtually impossible to even run for office.

Only after Big Business's hand pick the potential candidates do the people even get involved. We merely get to choose from the ones who've already dedicated themselves to business.
