I mean does you average Burmese really suit advanced Western participatory democracy? Don't get me wrong; I don't approve of the military tyranny there.

Thanks Mel Smith; I am trying to ask which form of government would best for a free Burma. Of course I'm slightly ignorant on this subject or I wouldn't be asking all you learned people a question!

A devout Buddhist king. Since Buddhists are not real zealous with missionary work, that would be a benign government.

I suppose you think Poland is a country full of shipyard workers because that's who protested to change the government there in the 1980s.

I'm not saying that Burma is a major industrial power, but do some research on the country and its demographics - you might be surprised. While you're at it, look up Aung San Suu Kyi and get the gist of how she would react to your question.

I think the best form of government for Burma will be constitutional monarchy.

its now called Myanmar . if monks are the majority there , a Buddhist theocracy seems appropriate .
