I heard Final Fantasy 4 was the best is this true or should I just start at the first one. Is the story and continuing story

If you wanted to play Final Fantasy games, you should've purchased a Playstation. The only FF game that is available for the Xbox is Final Fantasy XI, and it's a MMORPG. And in my opinion, the best FF games are FFX, FFVI, FFVII, & FFXII.

As far as Microsoft is concerned, the only Final Fantasy game available is Final Fantasy XI for the 360. FFXI is a MMORPG that is difficult, has a monthly fee and requires some dedication. Sakaguchi, a co-founder of Square that was recently recruited by Microsoft, has stated his desire to port FF games to the XBox, but it doesn't seem likely.
As for the best FF game, it's a toss up between 3(Nintendo DS), 7(Playstation or PC) and 12(PS2) in my opinion.

Sorry to tell you this but the only Final Fantasy game you can play on Xbox is FFXI and in order to play that you have to pay a monthly payment. All of square enix final fantasy games are out for Playstation, PS2, and PS3.
